Things That Make Me Happy
8:51 PM
2017 will soon come to an end and I don't think I've done any particular thing for myself and people around me. But it doesn't make me any less grateful for what I have today. Yeah, I could probably have a much better life if maybe I had done things I didn't do, but maybe I could be more unlucky too. We never know what may come, you just have to let go of what's gone, appreciate what still remain and look forward to what's coming next.
1. SUNSETS
I love sunsets because of its gradient warm color. And if
you're lucky, you'll probably see the gradient of colors you never see
before. The colors can be breathtakingly amazing, it gives you the better sense
of gratitude to the earth and The Creator. I always make sure that I won't miss
it by snapping some pictures.
Talking more about my personal feelings, sunsets somehow
give me that comforting & peaceful feeling. Reminding me that nothing
lasts forever and in the end everything's going to be alright. Sunsets also
bring me hope, a hope for a better day tomorrow. Most of all, it's FREE! And
make you appreciate the life's little gifts. Whenever I see a sunset, I feel like time's suddenly slowing
down, allow me to think clearly, allow me to take a little break
from life just to be grateful for one second.
Below are my top 3 favorite sunsets in 2017:

As much as I enjoy traveling, I also enjoy the process of
planning a trip. From making itineraries to struggling to secure the cheapest
plane ticket. Apart from my work related stuffs, planning a trip could also
make my brain think. The urge to plan it well and the thought of getting to
somewhere new gives me more energy than any thing could do. Gives me a constant thrill kind of feeling, gets me more excited for my upcoming trip even though it's still months away.
3. TAKING PICTURES
I do enjoy taking pictures but not professionally.
I enjoy capturing rare moments that I find meaningful. I think the more photos
I take, the more I realize that the way I see things has changed. Because some
moments happen quickly and landscapes are constantly changing, photograph
is the only way to hang on those memories a little longer. I certainly
don't take good pictures, but I enjoy looking back at what I have captured
because it's telling me stories. It's helping me to remember and allow me to go
back and experience the feelings I had. For me, pictures are not only meant to
be seen, but also to be felt. Take pictures! Take a lot of it!
4. CHRISTMAS
December has always been my favorite month of the year.
Besides it's the last month of the year, there's Christmas. Unfortunately we
live in tropical country that has no winter, it'll be perfect if Christmas comes
with a cold weather. All the Christmas songs and movies just simply make me
happy. The thought of Christmas itself gives me an ultimate joy. See my most
favorite Christmas quote I quoted from Castle that I totally can relate:
"Whether
there's a Santa Claus or not, that's not why I love Christmas. When I was kid,
no matter how bad things got, my mother always managed to make Christmas Eve
magical. Every year, she would put on "The Nutcracker Suite". And I thought if she can do that in our tiny apartment when money was
tight and we were alone, it gave me hope that things could get better. I love that feeling, that
sense of hope. It's crazy, you know? On the shortest days of the year, people
of all faiths celebrate the light." - Richard Castle

5. MYSELF
Well, it's not a
"thing" but it's the most important of all. Happiness is a
choice, and it's my choice. Whatever happens surround you, you're the only one
who gets to determine what to feel. You make yourself happy or unhappy as you
want. It's definitely not anybody's job to be make you happy. I learn it the
hard way tho, put that kind of pressure on someone else.
To choose to be happy
sometimes it's not easy but that doesn't mean it's impossible. If you keep
looking for something or waiting for someone to make you happy, I can tell you
it's going to be temporary. Happiness is a state of mind, not because of the reaction to thing, event or people. You can be happy whether you are single or in a relationship, you can be happy whether if you have a lot of money or even when you have no money, you can be happy whether you use the new Iphone X or you still use the Iphone 5, you can be happy whether you have 10K followers on Instagram or even when you only have 10 followers. Well, it's not wrong to use Iphone X or having 10K or even 100K followers on Instagram, but don't let things or events or even people determine your happiness. There are so much great things out there waiting to surprise us. Because the thing is, there's time for everything.
"A cheerful heart is a good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones" - Proverbs 17:22 NIV
Last but not least, let me wish you a MERRY CHRISTMAS
May your heart feel the love this Christmas and throughout the New Year ahead
(please don't mind my face, I'm slowly gaining weight)
